Set in the local beauty parlor of a small Louisiana town, Steel Magnolias centers around a group of eccentric women who, laugh, cry, gossip and survive the hardships and splendors of life. A tribute to the charm and wit of Southern women and the bonds of friendship, Steel Magnolias was one of the longest-running productions in Alley Theatre history in 1989 and brought "laughter through the tears" (as the Houston Chronicle titled its review) to audiences night after night. Directed by Texas native Judith Ivey, the Tony-winning actress who received accolades for her performance as Martha in the Alley's 2003 production of Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?.Sponsors for Steel Magnolias are Stanford Financial Group, BJ Services Company, and PricewaterhouseCoopers.Additional funding provided by American Express and Continental Airlines, the official airline of the Alley Theatre.GLENGARRY

They rely on young Williamson to give them hot leads, but Williamson ruthlessly pits the veteran salesmen against each other. A frantic battle ensues, revealing a hard-hitting story of betrayal and a still-relevant analysis of the shifting values of American society in the mid-Eighties. Celebrating the 20th anniversary of the Pulitzer Prize for Drama, Glengarry Glen Ross remains just as potent as when The New York Times described it in 1984 as a "ferocious comedy and drama." This play contains strong language and is recommended for mature audiences. Please note: Glengarry Glen Ross will fill the originally announced "TBA" slot on the Neuhaus Stage.
